I visited Ethiopia and Tigray in 2019 specifically to see the early Christian church’s - some carved out of caves or of solid stone - and other archaeological sites. The Tigray countryside and churches were stunningly beautiful, completely unlike the horrific images I had seen on the news in the 1980s. The overall infrastructure seemed up and coming. Ethiopian airlines had a modern well maintained fleet of aircraft that serviced all the regions on a timely basis. Ethiopia seemed on the cusp of becoming an economic and cultural power in Africa. Little did I know that in less than a year such a beautiful region with millennia’s of history would be plunged back in to hell. It is such a destructive shame people cannot see beyond tribal allegiances.

Do not blame the people for divisions that politicians themselves are responsible for whipping up. From what I've just read, it seems this failure came from the top, from the Ethopian government. They needed a bad guy to account for their own failures, and they found one in a long maligned ethnic group. It is not clear to me what would reduce the tensions amongst these groups. This is why tribalism of any sort is so toxic to the idea of a nation state. People have to see themselves as Ethiopian first. If everything is about the various tribes then they will always be in conflict. I can’t see how it can be otherwise unless there are strong cultural reforms to push the concept of an identity beyond one’s tribe. Who benefits from this level of violence and chaos? A country cannot succeed economically in this turmoil. With that said, someone, somewhere is likely benefitting. Who? Thank you for reporting on these conflicts that have religious and ethnic components even though the “color” of the people is the same. It is important to understand the nuances. Not to take away from what is reported here but I wanted to add that currently both political parties in the US are benefiting from promoting tribalism (whether it is on racial, religious, ethnic or gender lines). This does not bode well for us. We need to start seeing ourselves as American first and foremost. Ethiopia seemed to be an answer to the chaos of Africa. Most of the “countries” in Africa were drawn on the map by foreign colonizers. As in India, the approach was to include disparate ethnic groups in the polity and then pit them against each other, allowing domination by the small colonial elite. As the colonial era ended chaos logically ensued in so many of these “countries”. Never conquered Ethiopia was the exception. Its colors a source of pride for the African diaspora. I wish the writers spent sometime trying to identify the root causes of these conflicts . The article does a decent job of describing the horrific events objectively, but it misses the bigger picture. Years ago, some so-called intellectuals decided that dividing Ethiopia along ethnic lines, inspired by Marxist and Stalinist ideas, was the best way forward. This created a system where regions and tribes function as semi-independent states, constantly competing over limited resources in a zero-sum game. Throw in rampant corruption and extreme poverty, and unfortunately, it feels like the worst is still ahead.

የኒው ዮርክ ታይምስ ስለ ኢትዮጵያ ስቃይ፤ 'እንደዚህ አይነት ጭካኔ በህይወቴ አይቼው አላውቅም'

አዲስ ግጭቶች ሀገሪቱን እያናከሱ ባሉበት ወቅት እንኳን በአንድ ክልል ውስጥ ያለ ብርቅዬ እይታ አሁንም የጦር ወንጀሎችን ብዛት ይቆጥራል።

ሁሉም በትግራይ ድንበር ላይ በምትገኘው አብአላ ከተማ በአፋር ክልል ሙስሊሞች በብዛት ነበሩ። አብአላ በዘር የተደባለቀ ነበር፡ ወደ 70 በመቶ የሚጠጉት ህዝቦቿ ትግራዋይ ክርስቲያኖች ነበሩ። የተቀሩት ሙስሊም አፋሮች ነበሩ። እ.ኤ.አ. በታህሳስ 2021 በአብአላ የሚኖሩ በብዙ ሺህ የሚቆጠሩ የትግራይ ተወላጆች በአፋር ጎረቤቶቻቸው ተጠቅተው በመቶዎች የሚቆጠሩ ሰዎች ሲገድሉ በድንገትም ቤታቸውን ለቀው ይወጡ ዘንደ ተገደዱ።

ስደተኞቹ እንደነገሩኝ የአፋር ነዋሪዎች በከተማው እየዞሩ የትግራይ ተወላጆች ያሏቸውን ቤቶች ምልክት እያደረጉ ነው። ሲቪል ታጣቂዎች ከአፋር ልዩ ሃይል ጋር በመተባበር ወደ እነዚህ ቤቶች በመሄድ የትግራይ ተወላጆችን እየገደሉ ንብረታቸውን ዘርፈዋል። የትግራይ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት ተቃጥለዋል። ኃይሉ የተባሉ አዛውንት “እንደ ገሃነም ነበር - ከባድ የመድፍ ድምፅ፣ የሞርታር ድምፅ ነበር” ሲሉ ነገሩኝ። “የአክስቴን ልጅ ከሁለት ቤተሰቦቹ ጋር ገደሉት። አስከሬናቸውን እየዘለልኩ በጭንቅ አመለጥኩ። ወደ መቀሌ የመጣሁት ያለ ምንም ነገር ነው” አለ። "እዚያ ያለው ሁሉ - የእኛ እህል፣ ከብቶች እና በቅሎ ጋሪዎች - የት እንዳሉ አናውቅም።"

👹 ጭካኔን፣ ጥላቻን እና አረመኔነትን ወደ ሃገረ ኢትዮጵያ ያስገቡትን የዋቄዮ-አላህ ጭፍሮችን እንበቀላቸዋለን! እንበቀላቸዋለን! እንበቀላቸዋለን!

አዎ! እንደዚህ ዓይነት ጭካኔ በትውልዳችን ዛሬ ዓየን። አዎ! የዋቄዮ-አላህ ባሪያዎች የሆኑት ጋላ-ኦሮሞዎች፣ ኦሮማራዎች መሀመዳውያኑ አፋሮች እና ሶማሌዎች ላለፉት መቶ ሰላሳ ዓመታት በአክሱማዊቷ ኢትዮጵያ ልጆች ላይ በደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ልጆች ላይ እነዚህ ዓይነት ጭካኔ ሲፈጽሙ ታሪክ አስተምሮን ነበር። የዳግማዊ ምንሊክ የመጨረሻ ትውልድ የሆኑት ከሃዲዎች የሰሚኖቹ እነ ሻዕቢያ፣ ሕወሓት፣ ብአዴን፣ ኢዜማ እና አብን እንዴት ነው ይህን ያለፈውን አሳዝኝ ታሪክ ረስተው ከዛሬዎቹ ጨፍጭፍጫፊዎቻችን ጋር በማበር ክርስቲያን ሕዝባችን ላይ ለማስጨፍጨፍ የበቁት?! እንዴት ነው ከሃዲዎቹ ሕወሓቶች ግማሽ ኢትዮጵያን ቆርሰው ለአህዛብ ጋላ-ኦሮሞ፣ ለአፋር እና ለሶማሌዎች የሰጧቸው?! በዚህም አላቆመም፤ ከእነዚህ አረመኔ የዋቄዮ-አላህ ባሪያዎች ወደ ትግራይ “ኑ እና ክርስቲያኑን ጨፍጭፉልን፤ ድፈሩልን፣ አብያተ ክርስቲያናቱን እና ገዳማቱን አፍርሱልን/አብረን እናፈራርሳለን፣ የጽዮንን ሰንደቅ ቀለማት ከየቦታው አንሱልን/አብረን እናነሳለን፣ ምዕራብ እና ደቡብ ትግራይንም በሰራዊታችሁ ተቆጣጠሯቸው፤ እኛ ለምናልምላት ኢ-አማኒዊቷ የትግራይ ሶሻሊስት ሪፐብሊክ አንድ ሚሊየን ኢ-አማኒያን ተጋሩ ብቻ ነው የሚያስፈልጉን…” ብለው ጋበዟቸው።

ይህ ዛሬ 'አብአላ' የተሰኘው ቦታ ራሱ የትግራይ ክፍለሃገር ግዛት ነበር። ነገር ግን ይህን የዘር-ማጥፋት ጦርነት በኤዶማውያኑ ምዕራባውያን እና በእስማኤላውያኑ አረቦች፣ ቱርኮች እና ኢራናውያን አስተባባሪነት/ትብብር ከአፍሮቹ፣ ከጋላ-ኦሮሞዎቹ፣ ከኦሮማራዎቹ፣ ከኤርትራ ቤን አሚሮች + ራሻይዳ፣ ከሶማሌዎች ጋር ሆነው አስቀድመው በማቀድ ወደትግራይ መግቢያ አመቼ ቦታና አጋጣሚ ፈጠሩላቸው። እግዚኦ! እግዚኦ! እግዚኦ! ዛሬ ይህ አስቃቂ የዘር ማጥፋት ጂሃድ ቀስበቅስ እንዲረሳ እና ከተጠያቂነት ለማምለጥ፤ ብሎም በቁስላችን ላይ ጨው ለመስነስና የተረፈውን የትግራይን ሕዝብ ሞራል ለመስበር ከጋላ-ኦሮሞዎቹ እና ከእነ አፈወርቂ-አበደላ-ሃሰን ጋር ገሃነም እሳት የሚጠብቃቸው ሕወሓቶች ከጨፍጫፊዎቻችን የፋሺስቱ ጋላ-ኦሮሞ አገዛዝ ወንጀለኞች አጋጣሚ እየፈጠሩ የውስኪ ብርጭቆ በማጋጨት ላይ ናቸው።

ይህን እናስታውስ፤ የአረመኔዎቹ የሕወሓቶች/የሻዕቢያ፣ ብአዴን እና የፋሺስቱ ጋላ-ኦሮሞ አገዛዝ ቀጣዩ ዲያብሎሳዊ ዕቅድ ይህ ነው፤ በቀጣዩ የተረፈውን ክርስቲያኑን ሕዝባችን እንደገና ከጨፈጨፉና ካስራቡ በኋላ፤ “ምዕራብ እና ደቡብ ትግራይ እንዲሁም ለአፋር ተሰጥቶ የነበረው የአብአላ አካባቢ ቦታ ለትግራይ ክልል ተመለሰ፣ አሁን የትግራይ ሕዝብ የራሱን ዕድል በራሱ መወሰን ይችላል የሕገ-አራዊቱን አንቀጽ 39ን መሳብ ይችላል…” ይላሉ። ወዲያውም ያን አስቀያሚ የሉሲፈር/የሕወሐት ባንዲራ የሚያውለበልቡት የሕወሓት ተከፋይ ወንጀለኞች በእልልታ ዓለምን ያደንቁሯታል። በዚህም ሁሉም ከተጠያቂነት አምልጠው ያካበቱትን ኃብት ይዘው በዱባይ እና በዲ.ሲ ለመኖር አቅደዋል። ይህ ከአርባ ዓመታት በፊት ያረቀቁት ዕቅድና ፍኖተካርታ መሆኑን እናስታውስ። ይህን ዕቅድ የተቃወሙትን እነ መለስ ዜናዊንማ ከሉሲፈራውያኑ ጋር አብረው በጊዜው አስወግደዋቸዋል። እኔ እንኳን ገና ከሃያ ዓመታት በፊት ስለዚህ ዕቅድ በተለያዩ አጋጣሚዎች ሳወሳ ነበር፤ በጦማሬ ስይቀር...

አይይይ! እነዚህ ቆሻሾች የዲያብሎስ ጭፍሮች፤ ላለፉት መቶ ሰላሳ ዓመታት ክፉኛ ደሙን እየገበረ ያቆያት የሰሜኑ የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ከሙሉዋ ኢትዮጵያ እንዲትም ቁርሽ መሬት ቆርሶ ለጋላ-ኦሮሞ፣ ለአፋር፣ ለሶማሌ እና ለሱዳን አይሰጥም። እነዚህን ከሃዲዎች ከእግዚአብሔር እና ቅዱሳኑ ጋር ሆነን እየተበቀልን ከሞቃዲሾ፣ ከጂማ፣ ክጂቡቲ እና ከአስመራ ጠራርገን የምናስወጣበት ጊዜ ሩቅ አይደለም።

😠 በቅርብ እናያለን፤ እነዚህን አረመኔዎች እንበቀላቸዋለን! እበቀላቸዋለን! እንበቀላቸዋለን!

ይህ እጅግ በጣም አሳዝኝ ግን በጣም ግሩም በሆነ መልክ የቀረበ የኒው ዮርክ ታይምስ ዘገባ በሰፊው እንዳይሰራጭ እና የሌጋሲ ሜዲያዎች እንዳያገኙት ተደርጓል። ባለፈው ሳምንት ላይ ነበር የታተመው እኔ ግን ገና ዛሬ ማግኘቴ ነው። አዎ! ከመካከለኛው ምስራቅ ድራማ በስተቀር የኢትዮጵያውያን ክርስቲያኖች መከራ እና ስቃይ እንዲያውቅ አይፈለግም። ሁሌ ስለእነርሱ ብቻ!😠 ትግራይን እና አማራን እንወክላለን የሚሉት የእኛዎቹ የሕወሓት፣ የፋኖ እና ኦነግ/ብልግና ተከፋይ ሜዲያዎችም እነርሱ ስለሚሰጧቸው አጀንዳ እንጂ ሕዝባችን ስለሚገኝበት አስከፊ ሁኔታ፣ ስለፍትሕ እና ተጠያቂነት በጭራሽ አይዘግቡም። አይይይ ከረባት አሳሪ ሁላ፤ ፎቷችኋን በየሜዲያው ከምትለጣጥፉ እንዲህ እዚያ ተገኝታችሁ ከትግራይ እና አማራ መዘገብ የነበረባችሁማ እናንተ መሆን ነበረባችሁ፤ ከሃዲ ሁላ! እንግዲያውስ እናንተም ከተጠያቂነት አታምልጧትም! በተለይ ከጋላ-ኦሮሞ 'ልሂቃን' ጋር የምትሠሩ የትግራይ እና አማራ ተወላጆች ወዮላችሁ! ከንቱ ተግባራችሁ ለታሪክ ይቀመጣል።
