We also remember, in 2013, Boston Marathon fugitive Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was caught alive (and he is still alive) after harrowing 22-hour chase.
The life jacket graveyard was organized by U.K.-based Snappin' Turtle Productions, in partnership with the London mayor's office (
) and several refugee organizations, and is meant to call attention to a United Nations summit about Arab Muslim refugees, which is meeting Today in New York.
The 2,500 life jackets in the Parliament Square display were all actually used by refugees who made the dangerous trip across the sea from Turkey to Greece, according to an emailed statement from Snappin' Turtle. Of the 2,500 life jackets in the display, 625 were worn by CHILDREN.
This sort of action, and the United Nations summit in New York will always focus on Muslim Arabs, Afghans, Bangladeshi and Iranians – not on the millions of South Sudanese, Congolese war victims and other Christians who are drowning in their thousands on the coast of Libya. Only this year, officially, more than 3,000 Africans have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe. No one is counting the bodies of millions of Africans who are perishing on the sands of the Sahara.
